Why a retreat in The Gambia?
von Marion Khalsa Kaur

Let me tell you about my own experience: I know how soothing it feels, and how held you feel, when a journey begins with a retreat. That's how it was for me in Guatemala, for example, where I took part in a water fasting retreat right at the start of my trip.
Time to truly arrive
A retreat at the start of your trip gives you time to truly arrive. Time to adjust to the climate, the temperatures, the humidity and the different living conditions. And not only on the outside. On the inside, too, you can land in your new surroundings.
Every country carries its very own rhythm. Getting to know it, sensing it and letting yourself go with it for a while can be a deeply enriching experience.
Stepping out of autopilot
A retreat at the beginning of your holiday invites you to step out of the everyday routine of just keeping things running and to surrender to the flow of life. It opens up a protected space in which to meet yourself.
How are you really? Which habits nourish you, and which are ready to go? What would you not want to do without? What sparks your curiosity? What new experiences does your soul long for?
You can explore all of this in the loving, safe atmosphere of our Women's Retreat in Sanyang, The Gambia.
Arrive. Put down your bags. Let go of what weighs you down. Feel the lightness. Find your flow.
I hold the space for you and for all the women taking part in this retreat, with mindfulness, openness and trust. That way, each participant can have exactly the experiences she needs in this moment to invite more aliveness, joy, lightness and inner radiance into her life.
What carries you through the week
Daily Kundalini Yoga and meditation support you in bringing body, mind and soul into harmony and arriving fully in the here and now.
In drumming and dance workshops, we immerse ourselves in the lively rhythm of The Gambia. Shared outings to the market in Tanji and to the Gambia River let us experience the culture and nature with all our senses.
Between the programme sessions, there is plenty of time for yourself: on the nearby beach or at the Mama Limbo School, with its traditional local accommodation and generous communal areas, you can settle into calm, relax and let your soul unwind.
A women's circle and a cacao ceremony at sunset create space for meeting one another, for connection and for opening the heart.
Perhaps now is exactly the right moment
